Private Car by classictrains Private Car by classictrains
Until I posted this photo on DevArt it has been something of a mystery ever since the day I took it (9-Oct-1966). This round end observation is clearly of Pennsy heritage but the rest of the attributes are clearly not Pennsy.

This car is on the rear end of an arriving Rock Island train at Chicago's LaSalle Street Station which the Pennsy never used. The keystone drumhead does not have a Pennsy train name on it. Instead it says "Private Car" with the car's name in script. With help from Zero Onefournine [link] I can now say it is "The Reveler," a car purchased by Ben Butterworth and used occasionally on Rock runs between Chicago and the Quad Cities.

Looks quite similar to one of the cars restored by Ben Butterworth (John Deere family) used on the Rock Island Rocket to Moline and Rock Island.

I think you nailed it [link]
The photo wasn't quite clear enough to read the lettering on the drumhead or the car side but "The Reveler" works.
Thanks!

It's a big change from there to today's 53-footers!
