Last summer we went to Alaska and did the tourist thing. If you found my first Alaska Railroad deviation you may already know about this trip.
At 296 ft from water to rail, Hurricane Gulch is the literal high point on the route between Talkeetna and Denali. The train is a railfan's dream with viewing platforms in every other car and views to die for. The trip is a bit over-hyped but it is possible to tune out the trash and enjoy the ride.
