Description

In the 1960's 6 wheel trucks (C-C wheel arrangement) were uncommon on midwestern Class 1 freight locomotives. The General Purpose (GP) with 4 wheel trucks was mostly used. It was a big deal to find and photograph an SD9, or in this case, the first in its' class Burlington SD24 #500.

It's a Burlington Cad. :D I always thought the high nose was a classic look.

SP called it's SD9's Cadillacs for the smooth ride on six axle trucks.
