The Monon was a small railroad with a shortline feel that often yielded an unusual consist... if you had the patience to wait for it. I shot #35 by the Hammond shops a year earlier and here is #37 with what I think is a late model F3 (note the 3 portholes instead of the usual 2) pulling a transfer job.

i gave up MR when I got my car and could go watch the real thing in real scenery... still got most of my HO equipment though... including a brass Alligator

at the time the monon was a class 1, like the ej&e was before they changed the rules. if it were around today it would probably be classed as a regional or class 2. it was too big to be a short line.

quite true... but the people who worked there and the fact that it had 2 and 3 digit locomotive numbers gave it a shortline feel.
