Hot August Afternoon

Another hot August afternoon. I'm browsing the content of the Milwaukee's Bensenville Yard and here comes the prize. A solid refrigerator block comes drifting in pulled by 4 F-units and a U-boat. Note the spark arrestors on the roof. These units are from western rails where grass and forest fires are a worry.

The railroads still do this same job today with much updated equipment. [link]
