While digging though my closet I found a full tray of 140 slides I hadn't looked at in a few years. In that tray I found a far better shot of a Butte, Anaconda and Pacific GP than I previously posted as Big Sky Country. So I'll forgive you if you un-fave that one. :-)

The BA & P was a railfan target because of the wire. But it was never 100% electrified. In the 60's maintenance got too expensive so they shut off the power and Geeps ran the show under Montana's wide open skies.

There is a short history of the BAandP at Don's Rails.

I thought about titling this "Which way is up?" While scanning this I tried to straighten it but I soon discovered that no two vertical lines are parallel,... everything leans in different directions by different amounts.

Odd with the lines, that is.

We spent the better part of a day trying to capture the BA & P at work but failed.

All that Don's Rails show are box cabs. I have a few shots of them indexed in my Journal.

Most of these BAP geeps stayed around after Rarus took over. Rarus kept the BAP paint and just relettered them. Now, though, most of them have been sold off since Mid-America took over and renamed the line the BAP.

Great shot, love the overhead, I was always fascinated by electrics from an early age growing up, looking through my Dads old Model Railroader mags fueled my interest even more.
I remember being so disappointed seeing all there wire shut down and all the box cabs side-tracked.
