I have never known a time in my life when F-units were abundant...so the title seems rather odd...:)
If you saw my slide collection you'd realize it was 70% GP7 through 35 and F's and E's. I'm starting to duplicate engine models. For the longest time I would pass shots like this by so that I could get diff locos of diff RR's... like the CGW F5 and the Q FT.

It's odd that they have the MU cables and brake lines hung up. You never see that, and it was rare to see then.

This was one of a set of random units used in helper service.... note the chains on the nose door for crossing safely between the coupled units... note the rust and wear on the frame above the coupler.
