The main line is where "the action" is But what really makes it happen are the crews who work the yards and do the set-outs and pick-ups.

In Oregon it's lumber and wood chips. The Southern Pacific crew has broken for lunch and here's a classic SD9 sitting among classic cars at a mill in Medford.

I actually thought this was a GP until I checked the roster. There was a massive SP renumbering in in 1968 so my identification could be wrong.

Definitely an SD-7 or SD-9, note the ladders instead of grab irons on the short hood. Sad that I know that, but I digress. :D

I never worked any industries south of Glendale, but that curved roof looks like a Weyerhauser building. Do you remember where exactly in Medford that was? Another favorite. A black widow, nonetheless!

nope... i can't place it exactly... this was one of a few summers where i drove until i found railroad tracks and then followed them until i found a train or a locomotive... took pictures of anything I saw... and then repeated... i covered half the country that way...

what amazes me most is how much of it I do remember!

I could not give this an exact location... this was one of a few summers where I got in my car... drove till I found rails... followed those rails until I found a train or locomotive... took pictures and repeated... I covered half the USA and parts of Canada that way.

what amazes me most is how much I do remember!
