Description
Several things prompted me to pull this slide and scan it. Among other things jdawg posted a deviation today taken near here of the ice melting in Lake Michigan. Then there were the junkyard comments in my gallery about EMD taking Alco's as trades on new diesels. These EMD GP30's are sitting on Alco trucks pulling a ComEd coal unit train.) Then there was illinoiscentral6070 who got me thinking about the IC paint schemes. Note here that shortly before the IC and GM&O merged to become the ICG, that GM&O went from maroon to black & white like the IC.

The last ICG train I saw on the Freeport Sub in Cicero, IL (the day before CCP took over) was led by one of these and the other unit was a Paducah Geep. I have pics of these at the backlot at Paducah from 1988. ICG was not very into repainting!
