Description

Another shot at Dearborn Street station. The Santa Fe, fronted by an old Alco RS1 and an F-M H12-44TS tear down two trains as the C&WI (under the shed) and the N&W look on.

Everything here is gone now! The RS unit, The Erie Long haul Stillwell coach, The AT&SF and the N&W, even the station--Dearborn but you captured what passenger railroading was about. In 1966 Santa Fe was still promoting it's Chiefs, Erie-Lackawanna was just about to end the Phoebe Snow but still ran the Lake Cities and N&W was caring for its Wabash legacy. Amtrak wasn't in the eyesites that year nor was Penn-Central. The next 48 months transformed an industry that was still hadn't celebrated it centennial(1969). Thank you for the memory.
