Description

A late evening local at Cambridge, England on the British Rail network. Contrast this with the DB station in Koln... same era, completely different attitude towards rail travel, equipment, and fixed plant maintenance.

I was back there in 2002. Things seem to have changed for the better.

I don't know, I think there's a sense of honesty about the old Type 2s. They aren't flashy and beautiful like the Deltics or Inter-City 125s but they were the backbone of British Rail for a long time.

Here in the States, I'd say they are a lot like EMD's Geeps. Neither are made for beauty but still a great expression of railroading.
