Blue Line by classictrains Blue Line by classictrains
Before the CTA employees broke the news to me that I wasn't supposed to use a tripod without a permit, I managed to grab a couple of dozen trial-and-error shots. This is blatantly a photo-manip but I just had to do it. I have been playing with it for more than a week. I'd be interested in what you think.

At first glance, I wouldn't have noticed any manipulation, but the streaks above the train that don't meet up with the lights did kinda give it away. :)

Great shot btw!

Thanks. It was fun to play with and fun to shoot. At one point I actually had 3 Chicago cops sitting behind me watching what I was doing. They were curious about something they considered ordinary being a subject of a photo binge.

Heh, I usually only get passengers to stare at me, crew and personnel are usually used to railfans. :)

I like the effect, but it makes me wonder if the train is going backwards...:)

I agree. It bothered me a little too but I decided to let it go. The shots of it arriving weren't good enough to composite.
